Agricultural Training Program Expands with Successful Workshop in Th. Thimarafushi

Continuing efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices across the Maldives, a highly successful training session was held in Th. Thimarafushi from 17th to 19th October 2024. Organized in collaboration with the Thimarafushi Women's Development Committee (WDC), the program welcomed 12 enthusiastic participants, eager to learn and implement modern farming techniques to boost sustainability and productivity.

The training covered essential topics such as sustainable farming practices, composting using Effective Microorganisms (EM), and hydroponic systems. Participants were taught how to create nutrient-rich compost using EM, a method known for enhancing soil health, increasing crop yields, and reducing reliance on chemical inputs. The hydroponics session offered participants insights into efficient water use for farming, a critical practice given the unique challenges of the Maldivian environment.

Easa Shareef, a participant, shared his positive experience, saying, "The training program was very informative and far beyond my expectations. The practical knowledge I gained will make a real difference in how I approach farming."

With this session, the total number of participants trained under the "Namoona Dhanduveriya" initiative has reached 684, reflecting the program’s expanding influence across the country. The initiative, spearheaded by Prime Maldives, is part of the company's wider efforts to empower local farmers through education, hands-on training, and access to sustainable farming resources.

As the program continues to grow, it remains dedicated to fostering a collaborative approach to agriculture that contributes to a more resilient and sustainable future for communities across the Maldives.
