From 22nd to 25th December 2025, Prime Fertilizers Maldives (Prime Maldives) successfully conducted a four-day hydroponics training program in Vaikaradhoo, reinforcing its commitment to building confident, skilled, and future-ready farmers across the Maldives. The training was delivered under the Namoona Dhanduveriya Training Program and was attended by 16 enthusiastic local participants.
This training followed the recent supply and installation of nine greenhouses in Vaikaradhoo by Prime Maldives under the Maldives Agribusiness Program (MAP). MAP is jointly funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Government of Maldives. Prime Maldives supplied all greenhouses to participating farmers under this Program.
Recognizing that infrastructure alone is not enough, Prime Maldives proactively took the initiative to conduct hands-on training immediately after greenhouse installation, ensuring farmers are equipped not just with structures—but with the knowledge and confidence to succeed.
The Vaikaradhoo sessions were designed to be practical, farmer-focused, and confidence-building, covering:
The training emphasized real-life scenarios, allowing farmers to interact directly with the installed systems and ask practical questions relevant to their own greenhouses.
A core objective of the program was to ensure farmers feel independent and confident in managing their greenhouses. By combining infrastructure delivery with structured training, Prime Maldives aims to reduce trial-and-error losses and help farmers achieve consistent yields, better quality produce, and sustainable income.
With the completion of the Vaikaradhoo program, Prime Fertilizers Maldives has now trained a total of 903 farmers across the Maldives—a milestone that reflects years of sustained effort in capacity building, technical support, and community engagement.
By empowering farmers with both technology and knowledge, Prime Fertilizers Maldives continues to play a key role in shaping a more resilient, productive, and sustainable agricultural future for the Maldives.
