Prime Fertilizers Maldives Meets Agriculture Minister to Discuss Agricultural Development and Industry Challenges

Prime Fertilizers Maldives Pvt. Ltd. met with the Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, on Thursday. The meeting focused on the development of the agriculture sector and the challenges faced by farmers and agricultural input suppliers.

Prime Fertilizers Maldives was represented by Managing Director Ahmed Shiyaz, Business Development Director Niyaz Ibrahim, Manager – Sales and Marketing Mohamed Zahid, and Manager – Logistics and Operations Ibrahim Suneel.

The Ministry was represented by Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, Minister of State Ahmed Hassan Didi, and Director General Hussain Faisal.

One of the main topics discussed was the availability of agricultural inputs. Both sides highlighted the importance of maintaining a reliable supply without shortages.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam also highlighted the need to make agricultural inputs more accessible in farming islands. Better local access would help farmers obtain essential products more easily and reduce difficulties associated with transportation.

Prime Fertilizers Maldives discussed possible ways to reduce the cost of agricultural inputs. The company also shared challenges faced by input suppliers in importing and distributing agricultural products across the Maldives.

The meeting also covered the wider challenges faced by farmers. Discussions focused on how these challenges can be addressed through better policies, services and cooperation between the Government and the private sector.

Both sides discussed opportunities for greater collaboration. This includes supporting the implementation of Government policies and introducing changes that can strengthen the agriculture sector.
