Empowering Local Agriculture: Successful Training Program in Himmafushi

In a continued effort to enhance agricultural practices across the Maldives, Prime Maldives recently conducted a successful training program in K. Himmafushi from 8th to 10th August 2024. This program, organized in collaboration with the Himmafushi Council and the Himmafushi Women's Development Committee, brought together 21 enthusiastic participants eager to learn and apply new farming techniques.

The training was part of Prime Maldives' "Namoona Dhanduveriya" initiative, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program dedicated to advancing farming and agricultural techniques throughout the Maldives. The sessions covered essential topics such as home gardening, hydroponics, and the application of Effective Microorganisms (EM) in agriculture. These topics were carefully selected to equip participants with practical knowledge that can be applied to boost productivity and sustainability in their local environments.

Aminath Wafa, President of the Himmafushi Women's Development Committee, underscored the significance of this training for the community. She expressed her gratitude to the Prime Maldives team for conducting "such a fruitful training program" and emphasized that "the information we got from the training program is invaluable." Her remarks highlight the program's impact in empowering participants with knowledge and skills that will benefit their farming practices and contribute to the community's overall well-being.

The training emphasized the benefits of Effective Microorganisms (EM) in agriculture. EM technology, known for improving soil health, increasing crop yields, and reducing the need for chemical inputs, is a cornerstone of sustainable farming practices. By incorporating EM into their farming routines, participants can contribute to healthier, more resilient ecosystems.

Prime Maldives' commitment to enhancing local agriculture through education and hands-on training is evident in the success of the Namoona Dhanduveriya program. To date, the initiative has trained 672 farmers across the country, making a significant impact on local agricultural practices. This program not only empowers farmers with the skills they need but also fosters a sense of community and shared purpose among participants.

As Prime Maldives continues to roll out its training programs across the Maldives, the company remains dedicated to supporting the development of a robust and sustainable agricultural sector. By providing farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed, Prime Maldives is helping to ensure a brighter, more sustainable future for agriculture in the Maldives.
